This is a great pet bed, and my dog really loved it. However, when you hand wash the inner foam core, it DOES NOT air dry. I left it outside for 3 days in the sun (but not at night) and it still retained a lot of water. It's near impossible to squeeze it all out. After 3 days, it still wasn't dry, but I just dealt with it. Meanwhile I found a waterproof liner, so that I wouldn't have to wash the foam again.I wasn't able to find a zippered or elastic closure waterproof liner to fit, so I purchased one made for twin beds and just made it work. (I have the large size bed)If you have an older dog with occasional incontinence problems, you'll want to consider one of the more expensive beds that has the inner waterproof liner, or get a separate one, like I did.Also, though I washed the cover in cold water, and tumble dried on low, I still noticed some shrinkage.
