800-Thread-Count Egyptian Cotton 800TC Sheet Set, Full, Black Damask Stripe 800 TC Review

I can actually get these onto my new queen bed, it took some stretching but it works, so call them dual purpose. One of the pillow covers did develop a couple small holes after the first wash, but I believe that to be my error and not the fabric as none of the other piece has shown the same thing, and the holes havent gotten any bigger in recent washes. They look great on my bachelor bed, had wanted them to be a bit softer.

The description of these sheets implies a superior product.It's not.A thread count this high should mean the sheets have a smoother, softer feel than is typical.The fabric itself, "sateen", is also supposed to mean a higher level of softness and smoothness.Unfortunately, while these sheets aren't bad, they're no softer or less coarse than what you can get at your local discount department store, and are inferior to a 400 count set from Macy's which I received as a housewarming present.

Pinzon White White Pleats and Ruffles Sheet Set Review

I guess these sheets are pretty nice, but I've had them for a year, and they still don't feel like Egyptian cotton.I can usually identify Egyptian cotton sheets pretty easily, and these do not have that silky texture I expected.I thought they would get softer after a few washes, but they haven't, and I feel ripped off :(Also, the pleated border looks nice, but feels extremely rough.I would not recommend these sheets.

Pinzon 400-Thread-Count Egyptian Cotton Sateen Hotel Sheet Set Review

I travel a lot for work and stay in some wonderful hotels around the world... and am always amazed at the quality of their sheets.I ordered these hoping they might approximate what I've seen in those hotels.Nope.First off, the embroidery is not on the fitted sheet, only on the flat sheet and pillowcases, and it shrunk at a different rate than the sheets, so it's a bit puckered after first wash.I could live with that if the material was truly soft and luxurious... but I found it to be rather rough, a fairly ordinary sheet.The sheets I've bought at TJ MAXX and Marshalls advertised at the same threadcount around the same price are much more luxurious.If these soften with more washes, I will update this review.

Otherwise, you might want to keep looking!Hope this helps.

1000TC Egyptian Cotton PillowCase Pair (2) STANDARD IVORY PIN STRIPE BY MARRIKAS Review

A while back bedding marketers started twisting the "thread count" selling point around by saying an item was "600 TC" when previously 330 or so was the most one would ever see.Well, I thought, how do they fit that much more thread in the same amount of space?That must be some soft or heavy stuff?!What I figured out that they do is they make it sort of like "two ply" to be able to double the TC figure, but the sheet actually touching your skin is really the same as it ever was.Even believing this, I still couldn't resist seeing what 1000 count must be like.Now, I'm really not a bedding fanatic, or even the least interested in bedding.Everything I wrote above could be wrong - I don't know.But I do know that these sheets (actually, I just got the pillow cases) were no softer or "finer" than anything else I have in the house - including the 220 TC sheets from Target.They ARE heavier so, voila, there's the thread count.The fabric pattern is very pretty, but after one washing the cases looked terribly crumbly, so I did something I have never done before - I tried IRONING my sheets.I used to know a girl who, in her twenties, said she always ironed her sheets and couldn't sleep on wrinkled sheets.I thought that was both hysterically funny and lunacy at the same time.So there I stood trying to "Toby" my 1000 TC pillow cases and you know what?They don't even iron!They resist ironing and remain stubbornly wrinkled!Ha ha ha.The jokes on me.So, basically it's just a pillow case so don't be impressed by the TC and only buy these if you like the color, the pattern, or wrinkly pillowcases!Sweet dreams!
