A while back bedding marketers started twisting the "thread count" selling point around by saying an item was "600 TC" when previously 330 or so was the most one would ever see.Well, I thought, how do they fit that much more thread in the same amount of space?That must be some soft or heavy stuff?!What I figured out that they do is they make it sort of like "two ply" to be able to double the TC figure, but the sheet actually touching your skin is really the same as it ever was.Even believing this, I still couldn't resist seeing what 1000 count must be like.Now, I'm really not a bedding fanatic, or even the least interested in bedding.Everything I wrote above could be wrong - I don't know.But I do know that these sheets (actually, I just got the pillow cases) were no softer or "finer" than anything else I have in the house - including the 220 TC sheets from Target.They ARE heavier so, voila, there's the thread count.The fabric pattern is very pretty, but after one washing the cases looked terribly crumbly, so I did something I have never done before - I tried IRONING my sheets.I used to know a girl who, in her twenties, said she always ironed her sheets and couldn't sleep on wrinkled sheets.I thought that was both hysterically funny and lunacy at the same time.So there I stood trying to "Toby" my 1000 TC pillow cases and you know what?They don't even iron!They resist ironing and remain stubbornly wrinkled!Ha ha ha.The jokes on me.So, basically it's just a pillow case so don't be impressed by the TC and only buy these if you like the color, the pattern, or wrinkly pillowcases!Sweet dreams!Click Here to see more reviews about: 1000TC Egyptian Cotton PillowCase Pair (2) STANDARD IVORY PIN STRIPE BY MARRIKAS
