Amy Butler Patterns Midwest Mod Pillows AB-020MM Review

Amy Butler Patterns Midwest Mod Pillows AB-020MMThe Zinnia pillow was definitely worth all the hard work. I put over 12 hours of labor and about $40 worth of material into making the large 24 in size. The instructions were very easy to follow. But I wouldn't say that a beginner could easily tackle this one. It's definitely for an advance sewer. One thing I did change was I added a zipper to mine so that I could wash it if I ever had to. This means I'd have to unsting and restring the buttons, but that's not a big deal.

Another change I made is the use of a compass to create a perfect circle for the body of the pillow. The same could be done by finding the middle, folding it and folding it again. Create a cone and from the middle measure out 12 1/2, strike your circle and cut. It's easier to do it this way and you have a better chance of creating a perfect circle. Just remember, if you're using 45in fabric, to fold on the diagonal. That's the only way you'll end up with enough space.

There is a lot of hand sewing involved. Very time consuming, but I have to admit, it made all the difference. Sewing the petals down to keep them from flapping about is a great move. Finding 2 1/2 in cover buttons weren't easy. Check Hobby Lobby before you try the internet. My local JoAnne's didn't stock them. Have fun.
